Spring has finally arrived in beautiful Sydney. We’re a city known for our great weather and gorgeous coastal views, and for good reason! Sydney is situated on one of the most photographed harbours in the world, with a friendly outdoors climate and access to great food and drink. Sounds like great date opportunities if you ask us ;-)
We've put together a list of our favourite springtime date ideas in Sydney and they all revolve around the new spring weather we've been experiencing.
Whale watching and bike hire
Whale season is in full swing in Sydney (through the end of November) and these incredible creatures are being spotted on the regular up and down the coast.
One couple was just out this past weekend and saw whales breaching from Manly Beach and from North Head. And it's finally warm enough to spend hours outdoors in your hot pursuit of all things whales!
This date includes bike and binocular hire so you can spend the day riding around the picturesque beach town Manly with your partner, spotting the world's largest mammals on their annual migration! How David Attenborough of you ☺
Nature and exercise aren't just great for Insta stories, but they're also crazy beneficial for your mental health and your relationship! There are plenty of cute cafes and restaurants along the way to provide fuel and caffeine as you make your own nature documentary!
Cake Wines' Cellar Door Lunch Degustation & Bottomless Wine
The title pretty much speaks for itself, but hey, in case you're not sold….There's nothing that screams springtime in Sydney louder than a deliciously fresh degustation menu and bottomless wine.
Imagine this….it's the perfect weather for a relaxed walk through Carriageworks Farmers Market. After being inspired by all of the fresh local and seasonal produce, you head to the boutique Cake Wines cellar door. Here, you and your partner indulge in a leisurely degustation lunch, including ingredients as fresh as those you saw at the market. The icing on the cake? Bottomless pours of Cake Wines' 2011 pinot noir. The perfect date day sorted.
Cake Wines is celebrated as a contemporary winery based in Adelaide Hills, with a cellar door in our very own Redfern. Their approach is simple: make quality, creative expressive wines that represent a place and time, and celebrate what they think makes the world a more interesting place.
Explore Sydney's Best Street Art
We love this spring date because it mixes the great outdoors with the edge of urban culture. How edgy is Sydney? Let's just say that when it comes to street art, we can hold our own, especially in hip and trendy Newtown.
Newtown is ground zero of Sydney's mural art scene. Once a form of illegal protest, street art is now widely regarded as a legitimate and culturally important art form. It’s come so far in Newtown as to be embraced and supported by the Inner West Council.
What better way to spend a spring day than walking the laneways, chatting with local street artists, brewers, baristas and characters of Newtown. You'll find iconic street murals and lesser known gems and learn about Sydney's place in the wider international graffiti scene.
